The external X'over is big, heavy. Ralph showed me the inside parts and wirings(NOS air-gap capacitors, silver-mica high pass filter etc many of these parts were only used in the pre-war era, not only because they are expensive, some of the raw materials are toxic in present days standard,so the quality of these 2 jet machines is really something). I can't tell the difference/improvement between internal X'over version and its present form, but judging from PT's facial reaction after hearing the external X'over, I smiled inside me.
After 2 days listening, what I can say is that the Alpha 1 is extremely easy to drive, if your amp can deal with the LS3/5A with satisfactory results, it can steer the Alpha 1 with ease, the Horning Eufro is comparatively more difficult to handle.
