All those NOS tubes need 100 hours run-in before a fair judgement, the tubes you bought are the best ones on the market and you just find which one works the best for your system. For me, I still feel 4xMullard or 4xAmperex is a better choice for PRT1.
PT/Marvel,
I am still in China today, but can be okay on Feb 01. Hope it works for everybody this time.
I drilled a 3mm hole on the horizontal side of the raised floor. It is only 3mm, cannot really detach easily by eyes when I stand up. The resonances trapped inside are substantially reduced. In the past, when bass starts roaring, the resonance immediately echoes. Bass now becomes much cleaner with more ambience/spacing surrounding bass notes.
Danny, I am so glad to renovate your acoustics today with substantial improvement to your astonishment. Perhaps, the good news was everything was done without drilling a hole. The imbalances are gone in exchange for a very balance system. The z-axis improves substantially. The remaining job is easy. You need another 2 silver on the both sides of the rear wall, two diffursors attached at the back of your Avalon. After this, you will get the ultimate soundstage that you've been longing.
The subsequent change for SR to SMR between the DAC and the Preamp will clean up futher noises in-between the musical notes. By then, you will probably start considering either speakers or amp change.
Thanks so much for your magic work again Mr. David Copperfield of Resonator, the improvement to the imbalance problem is really stunning. The right hand side of the soundstage is now much cleaner than before and I can easily hear a good separation between the cello and the double bass for any orchestral pieces. I am anxious to see the further improvement done by two extra silver resonators and a SMR interconnect cable, hopefully I can get then by next week.
You are welcome. Two more silver resonators will reveal the height of the recording venue more. Then, I will add one more diffusor at your ceiloing between your listening position and the system. By then, you should start feeling you are being englufed by the soundstage somewhat. Right now, the level is equivalent to watching HDTV. The degree of englufment depends on the room acoustics, followed by your speaker/amp combo. The final destination/objection is to put you inside the recording surrounded by ambience on all axis.
The SMR inbetween the DAC and the PR-T1 will do magic for certainty because Zanden DAC is output is only 1v, compared with most other offerings at 2.2V. Hence transmitting more energy from the dac to the PR-T1 certainly helps a lot across the frequency bands. It is also a good idea to use OR on the Zanden DAC too. If you think the OR seems to be naturally born for the Wavac 805, I feel the same when it applies to the Zanden dac.
Your system and acoustics are really fun for me to learn and draw examples upon for further work.
I wish you were there with us as there were heated discussions on tubes which I found myself a total idiot not able to chip in at any point...
EC300B is undoubtedly a better match as you have originally expected in my system. I do believe my speaker would also match very well with 805 and 805Mk2. Tough call for me given the price tag but I will likely go for Mk2 to avoid taking an intermediate step. On the other hand, in your case, throwing in a big loaf of money on the amp would even be better 'deployed' on an upgrade on the speaker, don't you agree?

I am fine with Thursday, hopefully Chris and Studiogrey can be available as well.
Danny
Heard you r looking for speaker.......Both Cessaro or Tango could drive u crazy.
I may do a final test tonight for PR-T1.
Fixing a schedule for everyone is difficult towards the end of the year. Why don't I just come and visit you this evening at 6pm?
PT
TFK802,聲薄些少但分柝力有如針尖,透明度很高,空氣感濃.
Mullad長屏 聲厚,人聲甜美,各方面很平衡,質感很好.
最後結果係
gold dragon行前
Amperex行後
同之前一樣,始終這樣,現場感最好,聲音最能感動人心.可能係舊裝蛋未run-in但試來試去真係好累,先就此打住

Let's try this method on Saturday.

I wish you could join the annual dinner last Friday as PT told me you are very knowledgeable on tubes.
How do you like the EC300B driving Marvel's Cessaro speakers? Can you share?
