  • Danny,

I am going to set up the Tango speakers in CCN's Da Vinci system tonight. When I unpack the crates this afternoon, the finish quality of the Tango speakers shock me. After run-in, I suggest you go visit ccn to experience the Tango. We will post photos later tonight. The Tidal Piano Diacera will arrive in mid January or before Chinese New Year. There are plenty of excitement in our speakers universe. I also suggest you go listen to Marvel's L'passionate Cessaro Horn system.

Yes, I beg OR on preamp and power amps will work wonder on the Wavac combo. At least as far as I know Mr.Zanden is using two OR on his Zanden amp, Charles is using them on the 805, plus a few more actual users are very happy with OR on amplifier application.

Are you free tomorrow 11:30am? I can go visit your system

  • PT,

I can only be available anytime after 4:00 p.m. tomorrow, and wish you could fit in. If not, how about Sunday?

    Danny
  • Oh....wife will be back from thailand tomorrow afternoon. :(
  • Got it, let's do it later. I believe weekdays evening time work better for you, right?
  • Yes ah.....
  • Danny, where are you using the 2nd OR? The preamp? how was it?
  • PT,

My second OR is still under run-in, I therefore don't want to draw any conclusion too soon. Please wait for another week.

  • Danny,

Your acoustic problem (on the right hand side of the speaker) is quite a challenge to me. I have been thinking about it for more than a month. If you allow me to drill a 3mm hole on your raised floor, I think I can solve this problem for good. Your problem is tricky because you don't exactly have booming problem. What is trapped inside the hollow structure is something between 300hz to 500hz. The circulation of such energy inside the floor creates imbalance between left and right channel as your left channel is clean (only reflection problem like everyone else).

If drilling a 3mm hole is not an option, the only remaining option is the application of noise filters on the vertical height of the raised floor. However, some remaining problems of lower mid-bass energy circulation will remain.
  • Dso hing, I do a 12AU7 testing tonight for PR-T1.
I have quad of Amperex, 50's NOS
Quad of gold dragon (Original tube)
    Pair of Electro-Harmonix gold pin.
Finally, I plug a pair of gold dragon on input stage, pair of Amperex on output stage.
The gold dragon is must item, the sound become more dynamic and liveness.
  • PT,

Recently the imbalance problem has been greatly improved by opening one of my bedroom door and lowering the wooden curtains. Drilling is really not an option to me, let's try some noise filters during your next visit. I should be available on weekdays next week and hopefully you can find some free time to come.

For the OR competition, my final vote is on the PRT1. Though OR in Zanden transport can extract much more details from both end, I feel the sound a little bit tense. With the help of OR, PRT1 provide a faster, deeper, more dynamic and relax sound which make the orchestral pieces much more enjoyable.

    Studiogey,

I totally agree the Golden Dragon is faster and more dynamic, but for the other aspects like harmonics, air, fullness and sound decay the NOS tube especially the Mullard long tube square ring type outperform the GD by a very large extent. Once you put them into your PRT1, you will never want to take them out. Charles are now using the same ones, you can make a visit to check it out. GD is really too dry for my system.

  • Danny, I am free on Tuesday, Wednesday, and Thursday.
  • PT,

Wednesday evening works perfect to me, when you can come? The earlier the better.

    Marvel/Studiogrey,

Would you like to join us? Your thoughts and ideas are vey fruitful to my upgrade roadmap.

    Danny
  • Ok, Wednesday evening then. Earliest I can come is 630pm.
  • So Hing, Thank for your sharing. I would like collect more 12AU7 to do a finally testing. Mullard long tube NOS seem be a good choice, I may collect a pair for testing.
  • Danny, thanks for inviting. Wed does not work for me but I am okay on Thu and Fri.

Others, any chance to swap it to Thu or Fri?
