The Orbius combines the function of an ultra precision levelling tool, speed tracking (by iPhone light), and a record weight in one compact exquisite solution for analog connoisseurs. Arthur Marker of Arya Audio Labs even went as far as using a Guilloche machine built in 1919 by Swiss specialist Lienhard (best machine in the world and extremely rare nowadays) to craft the exterior of it.
Arthur went to a special state of the art laboratory where there is a gigantic physical instrument that accomplish levelling precision to 1/1000th of a degree. That inspired him to develop a compact solution for analog connoisseurs with equal precision to the lab instrument. He successfully accomplished replicating a reference surface to less than 1/1000th of a degree, and apply it to calibrate each Orbius by adjusting the built in “dual-axis” inclinometer until the bubble is perfectly in the middle of the concentric circle. He has essentially made a tool that is calibrated to the same standards as the best laboratory inclinometers in a compact way. The precision is 1 mm per 0.05 degree.
Other measurement tools said the level is correct but the ultra precise Orbius suggests otherwise.
Because it is analog and the inclinometer is dual axis, the users are guided by how the bubble moves rather than watching a digital display with changing numbers. Anyone can see even the smallest changes (infinite steps) instantly. Arthur also spent a lot of effort to ensure the crystal glass in Orbius (not cheap plastic) is machined to 1 micron precision (1/15th of a human hair) so as to achieve the exact curvature to warrant a defined resolution.
Through the development of Revopods, Arthur also gained tremendous experience in structure optimisation and the utilisation of materials to annihilate mechanical vibrations. He also applies such knowledge in the Orbius project.
It features a very unique structure. The main body is made out of Delrin with superb internal damping properties. It is encapsulated by a stainless steel shell machined by a 5 axis CNC machine. It is optimised to substantiate stiffness of the structure. Finally a core element of tungsten is mounted using a floating structure without direct contact to the outer shell. It is suspended from the Delrin element providing outstanding vibration control properties.
After levelling of the almighty Dalby Akasu Elemento turntable is calibrated by the Orbius, a whole new dimension of analog experience is achieved never ever beforehand. The flow of music is so much more coherent alongside tremendous definition of space (palpable silence) amongst music notes at the micro level and instrumental groups at the macro level. The space in turn defines contents of a stage (not just a bunch of airy sensation). The dimension of the recording venue has become much more defined. I could feel the outer limit of it and yet it breaks the boundary of all physical walls in Divin Lab.
