  • dB,

You are crazy guy! I will certainly interested in your own speakers when they are ready.

When are you going to deliver my amp? Make sure the spec is identical to mine is ok. I respect your relentless drive in your work and doing extra to make sure the show was running trouble free. It was great talking to you during the show and all the great sharing of all the technical matters.
  • dB,

I also just placed an additional order of a stereo amp with PT, half an hour ago, to go mono. But I am going to use them to drive my Tidal Sunray bought many years ago.

It will be interested to listen to your speakers one day but I know well that you are not a speaker designer and you have to reliant on someone else to do it right.

You seem like to build a system that no one can intrude from electronics, cables, power conditioning all the way to speakers. What a man you are! Phew, keep up the good work.
  • Darth Vader,

Where is your Q5? You said you are using Wilson Alexia now.
  • Hi guys,
I got some emails this morning regarding the used power amps at the HK Show.
So the used amps were engineering samples and I use these amps to look for further improvements. These amps are my development platform.

Maybe there is a misunderstanding about the output power. The output power is only increased for loudspeakers with impedances of 2Ohms and lower and only in mono bridge mode!!
The measurement from yesterday was done in Mono Bridge mode.
In stereo mode the regular TRINITY Power Amps are already extreme overdesigned and can handle 1Ohm loads at all volume level.
Enclosed a diagram which Shows the main power differences related to the load impedance.
These amps are still under development and I am not yet done with the design and they are of course much, much more expansive. Chris and I have to decide later, if this huge additional cost justify this improvements, which are only “visible” for loud speakers with an extraordinary low impedance below 2Ohms at full rated output power.
At regulars listening levels there is no difference at all, since the regular amps are already perfect.
By the way the Sunray has
"nominal impedance: 4-6 Ohm, no impedance drops below that", that is an easy load.
There are no values for the Efficiency and I understand his Statement "efficiency: since mostly unrealistic numbers of competitors we don't want to confuse clients by non-saying numbers on paper. Therefore we just write: very good efficiency, an easy load even with tube amps"
since alot of Speaker manufacturer measure the Efficiency in a room without any damping to get a Maximum of reflected energy from the walls and ceilings on the microphone to get a better value. Such measurements are of course useless and I agree it makes no sense to compare such values with serious measured values.
  • Raymond,

I swap my Q5 with my friend's Alexia. I prefer Wilson Alexia to Q5 because it was easier to drive. The swap was done almost 4 months ago. But I somewhat regretted after the swap because all music sounds almost the same with Wilson. I want something more transparent. I am ready for the Cessaro horn actually, as they are pretty amazing in numerous occasions. But my wife is not ready for horn. That is why it drives me to Goebel Epogue. I like the coherence and transparenct which are way ahead of the speakers I previously owned at least to my ears. But the concern is low efficiency. But with trinity amp, I have no fears.
  • Hi all,

back to the Quality discussion of the used digital selection during the Show.
I have analyzed all tracks and all tracks are up-sampled CD tracks.
There is no Content above 21kHz even if the sampe rate is 96kHz.
Actually I do not like this, especially if the track of 44.1kHz is up-sampled to 96kHz, instead of 88.2kHz.
On the other hand I have not seen a software, which can do the up-sampling for a CD better than the used pulse optimized digital filter inside the TRINITY DAC.
What does this mean, the “TRINITY DAC set-up” performed at the show well below the standard performance for a CD track and we played no real hi-res files at all.
