What is your latest experience with the Gabriel? The cartridge weight around 2.2 to 2.3 is just fine in my own experience. If the weight is 2.3, I tend to compensate the loss of sharpness and focus by setting a higher VTA or sometimes I will crank up the height of the feet to achieve the same purpose. The feet under the Gabriel is state of the art stuff. It is fun to play around. Well, that may be too eccentric for you.
The Gabriel is truly capcable of revealing extreme fine details on all frequencies. If the violin cannot melt you down, you should start looking at the amplification chains. Just my 2 cents.
