HORNING ARISTOTELES
The Eufrodite is a masterpiece, no doubt about it. Now, Tommy Horning brings the musicality of the Eufrodite to the newly designed - Aristoteles.
One of the outstanding characteristics of Horning loudspeakers is their ability to reproduce human voice like no other speaker I’ve heard. Much credit for this has to go to the Lowther drivers employed solely as mid-range units where their incomparable speed is maximised.
Most Horning loudspeakers are large items of furniture but the new Aristoteles stands only 103cms tall on spikes or feet, and measures just 23cms wide. The useful capacity of the speaker is gained from a front to back dimension of 50cms where four eight inch drive units are mounted as pairs in a push-pull configuration. This arrangement provides for a reasonably elegant loudspeaker (viewed from the seating position especially) yet it has sufficient cubic capacity and driver firepower to provide deep and tuneful bass information commensurate with the accuracy of the midrange and high frequencies.
The Horning Aristoteles Ultimate delivers the same kind of effortless fluidity of its larger brothers, seeming to breathe music rather than thrusting it at the listener. Yet, when explosive musical information is reproduced the Aristoteles delivers it with all the instantaneous power that these high speed drivers can muster. Such dynamic contrasts are to be savoured, listeners to Horning loudspeakers quickly become aware of the real spatial and dimensional aspects of the recording environment, not only placement of musicians and those exquisite vocals, but the sheer size of many venues can ‘virtually’ transform your domestic listening experience.
If ever you scour the web for references you might have noticed the number of reviewers who use Horning loudspeakers themselves, Perikles, Agathon, Agalme are often mentioned. The new Aristoteles is sure to find just as many influential friends if only because it’s so much more room friendly than some of its imposing stablemates. At 96dB senitivity the Aristoteles also presents a benign load for low power (Class A) solid state and valve amplifiers.

I listened once to the Horning. The vocal voice, I never forget. How is this small horning compares to your original speaker?

Speaker 到了我家裡2天, 我前晚再開聲聽羅亞方舟track 4,5 真是驚喜, Wilson Benesch Discovery 是做不了的, 就是人聲突出了來, 好像有一個活生生的人企在前面, 好立體. 之前discovery播的時候, 人聲不能出來. 另外我播carmen opera的時候 track 14, 腳踏著地板整個舞台出了來, 如果我用discovery舞台只在我的腰上, 不能向下, 不過這對Speaker的低頻是好勁, 一定要room treatment 去解決. 這是我這2天聽到的聲音, 我相信horning speaker 會全面地勝過Wilson Benesch Discovery. 當我整理好我面對的的低頻 kitty 歡迎你到我家裡給我意見.^^
