The sole purpose of hosting this Super Hi End Show is to institute a tradition to safeguard and promote a purist’s attitude in the 2-channel Hi End Audio domain. Our long term strategy is to hold this Super Hi End Show together with Audio Technique in July every year thereafter. Tradition can only be made by time. And time is in the infinite space.

We do not aim to please all participants as subjectivity of different school of thoughts varies, not to mention an unknown acoustic environment alongside inadequate time for aging the brand new electronics. But what we have is knowledge based on solid facts and principles – a systematic approach to resolve different type of noises with dedicated solution. Type of noises includes ground noises, AC noises, mechanical noises, EM noises and room noises. We shall launch full assaults on noises on Saturday. All electronics will be housed on a SRA rack. And of course, ground noises will be tackled by Troy Signature by Miguel Alvarez which I categorize it as a “sacred” device. Extreme ground wires by Dalby will be applied. All other cables will be wired by our longest partner – Argento.

We only have one day to set up on July 12. We need to study the room acoustics for at least two hours. Javier Guadalajara of Wadax will be spearheading this effort as his possession of technical skills in this area is unprecedented. Ralph Krebs of Cessaro Horn Speakers will be directing the installation of the master reference LIZST 4- way horn speakers that won worldwide acclaims in the Munich Show in 2013. Last but not least is the masterpiece creation of CHOUKU (長空) by Yamada of Zanden Audio. The whole project took him almost 2 years to complete from conceptualization to actualization. And the production of the amps was only finished last night. That means we will be listening for the first time together with all of you!

In the analog department, we have chosen to demonstrate the Da Vinci Gabriel turntable in memory of Peter Berm. This turntable earns 4 straight golden ear awards from the Absolute Sound. The Cartridge to be chosen is Ikeda’s flagship KAI.

I have to count on Yamada’s super listening skills to spot on any wrongs on directionality. Last but not least is Mr. Chik (our esteemed Analog Consultant) will be responsible for the final say on speaker positioning. Each of the specialists is assigned with different tasks to demonstrate their respective strength.

Frankly speaking, we are under enormous stress because this is our virgin public show. We are afraid of not being able to do the best of the best under time constraint. Nevertheless, we need to walk the first step however the impact will be. At the end of the day, fundamentals of knowledge and experience dictate the final outcome. This is what we always firmly believe.

See all of you on 7/13/2013

  • I reserve my utmost respect to the whole AE Team!

    Gratitude beyond words.

  • I really look forward for it. Although I can always book an appointment session in AE, the context of going public is completely different. Why would they take all the pains of moving hefty stuff around in town for less than 48 hours? We know the attitude of PT/J.Lam well. They didn't care the public. They somehow break their own norm. Now they want to institute a "tradition"! What is the ballpark here? A clear positioning of the firm specializing in Ultra High End doing their own show every year from now on.
  • Nobody can predict what the overall performance of the show would be given that one has only less than 24 hours to setup the mega system in a room totally alien to the organiser. Imagine how many times we go into AE showroom and have our jaws dropped for yet another recording breaking listening experience in the same environment? I bet the coming one may stand a high chance to fail the most stringent expectations but surely would impress the vast majority and set a very high standard in overcoming all the environmental factors in the shortest time possible. Much credit must be given to the dream team who have their own areas of expertise and focus in the show. This is really one great show that I will miss due to some work commitment !!
  • OMG! Marvel bro will be absent from the Super Show! How can it be? I thought you will be holding tons of Argento flagship cables stealing all the flashlights.

What kind of work committment fails your participation? You better give us some good reasons.
  • Have the Zanden super amp arrived HK?

植師父 closed his shop for two days to rehearse setting up the Da Vinci Gabriel once with Ikeda flagship KAI cartridge mounting on the Virtu arm. The loading of the cartridge to the Zanden phono stage is perfect as Yamada custom made the MC transformer for the KAI.

植師父 said to me, "I want to give my best shot." He needed not spend such extra time based on his supreme analog experience. He could set it up directly in the HK Convention Center. But he had chosen to close the shop for rehearsing. This is an attitude which youngsters lack nowadays.

I also want to extend my gratitude to Marvel to lend his Virtu arm to us at the eleventh hour.
  • It all begins with power - the indispensable Argento Flow Center with FMR SE power cord.
  • Miguel of Tripoint is assisting the installation of the Cessaro Lizst
  • Electronics start moving in.
