As usual PT kick-started session #1 by explaining the run down of this so called 「忘不了」song-playing gathering to farewell Goebel's Epogue Reference speaker leaving his home.
This is my first time to visit PT's home and also the last time to enjoy a series of selected songs performed by Goebel's Epogue Reference speakers integrated with a pair of Cessaro's 項羽 subwoofer. PT really achieved impossible works here. The selected tracks were played with incredible silence (some guests found something new on the system).
After auditioned this mega-system for over an hour, PT had casually demonstrated the smallest Cessaro's horn speaker w/amp for a few Tidal's songs streamed through his iPhone to finish session #1.
By sharing the above photos, I hope those who joined the sessions today would give thumbs up to Goebel and PT.
The session, indeed the entire journey PT has walked thru with Epogue Reference is a truest manifestation of the above thematic slogan. For those readers of our local hifi magazines, this slogan should not be unfamiliar.
Rather than sharing what I heard in the session, I would like to summarise what I feel:
1. Always strive for excellence and think out of the box. Don’t simply give up on one component without exploring all options to deploy other resources to augment.
2. Deep dive into the background of the music to appreciate what can be heard and must be heard under a perfectly matched system.
3. A system can’t be built to become the cup of tea for everyone. One must be confident and courageous to lead a different track with justifiable steps to maximise its strengths.
Aren’t the aforementioned the Next Generation Attitude for this hobby?
I am floored not just by the performance of the system but also by the relentless spirit of PT to overcome the challenge of Epogue in the past 10 years. A frontier as well as an industry leader!

奇妙旅程 !
跟PT 一起研究,是一個畢生受用的音響課程,雖然過程中只是充當一位記錄員,但也獲益良多,至少他會毫無保留地分享心得,PT不喜歡故步自封 (這點除了器材之外,音樂種類亦然),小弟從年青時每個月追看音響雜誌,一大推 HiFi 形容詞琅琅上口,器材睇咗當聽過,聽過當玩過,又點諗到有機會咁深入理解一大堆高水平的器材和線材特性?
說實話,香港很大部分玩家都相對保守,對super hi-end 的定義,都比較模糊,甚至將「好聲」定性為個人喜好,PT 顛覆了這個講法,證實了「好聲」係有標準的,參考在於音準、速度、比例等等等等 .... 。 當然,每套系統都有自己的個性、優點、缺點,但都不應脫離以上的參考基準。
昨天的聚會,意義是在這個里程碑上畫上休止符,現役的Goebel Epoque Reference將會退下火線,換上同一血統的Epoque Aeon Reference,有趣的是,PT 並沒有意欲把GER立刻賣掉,要遇到「有緣人」才會考慮出讓,我理解這位「有緣人」應該是指有能力和有誠意把這對超級喇叭玩好的人,否則他只會把它收起當作收藏,這點倒是對GER 與 Oliver 一種致敬,一種態度!
整套系統從開始到現在,骨幹成員都沒有大改動,JMF 音源,Riviera Lab 放大,GER 喇叭,近距離聆聽,音樂一響起就要你進入樂曲𥚃面,系統的轉捩點毫無疑問便是項羽的加入,PT 花了很多時間在研究項羽的 integration,亦證實了超低音的工作並不只是在超低頻,是全頻的效應,這點以往已討論過,其次便是Stravinsky AES EBU,Troy elite NG , Argento FMR EE ground cable、PSI active bass trap、SRA Virginia .1,Wellfloat delta,分別極致地處理了訊源、ground noise、注波、諧振等,當中包括很大量的音響知識、數據,我在過程中亦學懂了怎樣配搭和設計自己的音響系統。
我不打算再細說今次的聽感,親身聽過的,便知道有多利害,還未親身感受過的,就留待Aeon 登場吧。

我相信改變主要因為增加了5套WellFloat Delta及兩套Active Bass trap (吸收了長久在客廳左後方的低頻駐波,聽火鳥時嚇左一跳,低頻實在太快及乾淨了), 其中兩套WellFloat delta 放在GER下更是Delta extreme Version , Jmf transport 下放了一套delta ,最後兩套Delta放在一對項羽下,令到整體播放提升到更加置身現場感覺,尤其是古典音樂,更加無懈可擊,是AE 4個demo 中我最愛的效果,相信聽過的都會有同感!
我一向非常欣賞PT的固執及對完美的堅持,一月時連植師傅都說當時系統可以聽過世,但他還要作出這幾項改動,最後更要把Speaker upgrade到Aeon 版,又再一次展現出他對音響的新態度!用十年時間去玩盡一對speaker,今時今日聽落好似有啲匪異所思,因為一般發燒友通常幾個月玩吾掂,已經換上新玩具,二手店才能生存,如果每個Audiophile 都能學習PT的態度,相信二手店會少左一半。
今次另外兩個surprise 是 Cessaro的mini Wagner 及 Zanden disc cleaner。Wagner 尚欠有大量发展空間, 等待PT怎樣玩盡呢件看似玩具的神器⋯⋯Zanden cleaner 不用講咁多, Yamaha San 的 產品加超吸引價錢,已經冇得輸⋯⋯希望他將來引進更多呢啲咁親民的product。
AEON引頸以待你可播倒怎樣的貝九、馬五、火鳥可飛到幾高?
我覺得AEON的密度比上一代高了數班,如果AEON是8K畫面,那麼舊款只有2k,所以梁生一定要加一對項羽超低,增加密度。不過親身體驗過AEON後,更加佩服梁生將上一代玩到化境,就連我也被收服。不過若能令母親開心,我幾多也願意。
自你講解後,我最近也嘗試聽吓粵劇,學習欣賞任白的粵劇戲寶。
很期親身感受AEON,就超低音而言,如果地方許可,我還是建議用的,其一是超低音的工作,不只在起低頻,當有了超低音,全頻將會顯得從容,其二是要播大編制的樂曲時,配合項羽才能交代合理的磅礡感。
AEON真係勁到爆!母親的朋輩十分讚嘆,任白戲寶有神有韻,更有靈魂。真係來了我家演唱,能量穿透聽眾身體,是上一代不能做到的。對喇叭好似不用煲練,已經好勁。想當天我對大Kharma只係強調鑽石高音的低失真超高,總體音色不平行,老媽大彈不是。
梁生給了我你玩小神曲的視頻,原來你好鬼佬大戲。這些我們不太懂欣賞,但家母話在電話也聽到她中音字正腔圓,音樂感不錯👍。
